The first in a fictional trilogy set in London and Australia, first published in 1995. Tells the story of two women, Mary Abacus, sometime mistress of London criminal Ikey Solomon, and Hannah, wife of Ikey. They raise separate families, both named Solomon, in Van Dieman's Land where Mary was transported. Determined to survive their past and create a future, the two women set out to destroy each other. The book has been made into a feature film. 'Tommo and Hawk' and 'Solomon's Song' are the next volumes in the trilogy. The well-known author has written several other works, including 'The Power of One' and 'April Fool's Day'.
