Recipes were sourced from family sources where they are all well loved and proven favourites. Kai from the Coast is a Young Enterprise company comprising six Year 12 students from Opotiki College taking part in the Young Enterprise Experience in 2008. Their mission statement reads, "Our mission is to influence New Zealand cuisine with Maori recipes from the coast and to promote the Maori language nationally and internationally".
