Unlike the moveable feasts of the medieval church calendar, these peripatetic celebrations happen when and where you want them -- at the beach, on a hike, skating with friends, tailgate partying before the big game. There are 414 recipes in this book and some surprises -- a soup that contains gin, a green-tomato pie, a warm spinach and basil salad, squab kebabs suggested for bird-watching trips (Is this proper?). These recipes contributed by Mystic Seaport Museum's members and supporters are intended for excursions and outdoor occasions, and the book's 9-1/4" x 8-1/2" size and comb binding make it as convenient to use on a boat or a picnic table as in the kitchen. Drawings by Sally Caldwell Fisher brighten the pages.
