Local Government In The Wellington Region: The Challenge Of Chaos by John Roberts and Roy Sidebotham

Foreword: During the recent local government elections many candidates expressed concern at the uncoordinated nature of local government in the Wellington region. The issues they raised were not new. There has been for many years a continuing debate on ways in which local services in and around Wellington might better be provided. We have been impressed by the obvious concern for the wellbeing not only of their own communities but for the region as a whole of elected councils, community groups of all kinds, and individual citizens. This present study derives from their sense of the wider public interest.
