Lillian Wald: the Nurse in Blue by Sally Rogow

As a young graduate nurse, Lillian Wald came to New York’s lower East Side to “live as a neighbor” to the thousands of immigrants streaming into the “Golden Land,” America. Among their numbers were Lithuanians, Romanians, Hungarians, Irish Germans and Jews. The Jews like other others were fleeing from poverty and also from the pogroms of Eastern Europe.
