The Foreigners by James Lovegrove

World War II saw the flying machine leap to the forefront of warfare. But after the war, these aircraft were sent for scrap and whole types quickly became extinct. In the 1960s a small, but dedicated, band decided to save some of these irreplaceable aircraft for posterity. Soon afterwards the British Aircraft Presevation Council was formed.
