Critics have asked recently if there is any sign of younger development in poetry since the early 'fifties, and this book is a part answer. The appearance of Peter Bland, John Boyd and Victor O'Leary in a joint volume should not be taken to signify membership of a group or movement. Here are three distinct and individual voices, each with his own vision and experience. What they have in common is no more than a piece of their lives spent in the same place - Wellington - all have been students at Victoria College - and each wants to write as well as he may according to his lights.
