Barry Crump spent much of his life in this way before writing, during a reluctant sojourn in town, this wickedly perceptive account of a deer culler's life. With a mordant wit as well aimed as his rifle, the author sets down not only the rewards and punishments of his own adventurous life, but also the whole uproarious oddity of men he spent it with. His good keen men are as various in character and ambition as the turns of weather or the lack of hunting. They bring to the job motives mostly obscure, and leave more of often than not for reasons hardly more clear. This 1987 beckett Paperback is in good condition. Pages tanned with some spotting.
