An autobiography of a member of one of New Zealand's most distinguished families. Gwen was the older sister of Rewi Alley (famous in later life for his work in China). This book covers her childhood and the development of her ideas as an educationalist. It is a tribute to her work and involvement in the 'Fielding Community Centre' which led to the establishment of a Nursery Playcentre. Gwendolen was a founding member of the New Zealand Playcentre Federation, and was awarded an MBE by the Queen in 1965.
