It would be impossible, in a book of this size, to illustrate the diversity and variety of Fijian material culture. Therefore, we have attempted to isolate a small number of objects which are of interest because of their fine craftsmanship, their historical significance, or simply their curiosity as antiquities. The artefacts here represent a way of life peculiar to the 19th century; an era well documented in the papers and journals of traders, sailors, missionaries and adventurers. Wherever possible, vivid, first-hand accounts have been used to describe the objects, for these people, who found Fiji such a source of fascination, were the first collectors of Fijian artefacts; many of which later found their way into the Fiji Museum's collection. This 1980 Fiji Museum Stapled is in fair condition. Large; Owner's Name inside. Cover rubbed and worn. Staples rusting. Not heavy but large so extra postage may be needed.
