As it was in the beginning is Stu Bagby's first full collection of poetry. Reviewers have commented on his sense of humour as well as his deep understanding of human relationships. One of the poems, 'The Boys', has been included in Best NZ Poems 2005. The central section of the book contains a series of poems about growing up in rural New Zealand in the late '50s: When I was eleven I felt sort of tingly about a girl on the cover of Pix. She lived in Australia and I thought I might ring her one day because they gave her phone number. It was: 36-22-36. About the Author Stu Bagby was born in Te Koporu in 1947. Winner of the NZ Poetry Society Competition in 2000, he has also been published in New Poets Volume 2 by Auckland University Press (2002). As it was in the beginning has been nominated by the Sunday Star Times as one of the best books of 2005. This 2009 Steele Roberts Paperback is in Mint condition.
