End of year news: opening hours and loyalty cards

It's near the end of the year and very busy. As it's probably too late now for mail orders to arrive by the 24th (NZPost said the cut-off was the 19th), if you are local and haven't got time to browse the shelves, you can still order online and then drop by the shop to collect anything you've ordered (pickup instead of mail). We're open until 7pm Christmas Eve.

Our opening hours over the holidays are:

Sat 24 Dec (Christmas Eve) 10am - 7pm
Sun 25 Dec (Christmas Day) Closed
Mon 26 Dec (Boxing Day) Closed
Tue 27 Dec (Christmas Day observed) Closed
Wed 28 Dec 10am - 5pm
Thu 29 Dec 10am - 5pm
Fri 30 Dec 10am - 5pm
Sat 31 Dec 10am - 5pm
Sun 01 Jan (New Year's day) Closed
Mon 02 Jan (day after New Year's day) Closed

From Tuesday, 3 January we will be back to our normal hours of 10am-5pm, seven days a week.

Many book browsers are already starting to talk about their reading plans for 2023. One person has talked about planning to read 12 history books written about non-European and non-north American countries, another person has said that they will read in 2023 once a month a non-fiction Aotearoa book.

One avid fiction reader said they would read 24 different authors in 2023, I said why not try and read 24 authors from 24 different countries or ethnic backgrounds. They could be in for an interesting year.

To help people with all these plans, we're introducing for 2023 a bright orange Book Haven loyalty card. Each time you buy a book at Book Haven, get the price of the book noted on the card by us and after you've bought nine books we'll put the value of your average towards the 10th book you buy. Look out for the cards in 2023.

Meanwhile, happy reading from Book Haven.
